I need to improve on getting to class on time and being prepared for class. I know that i need to improve on getting to class on time because i have missed a good deal of some classes so far. I also need to improve on being prepared because i never have a pen to write with nor paper to write on.
Task Two:
1. Getting ready to take notes:
- Review notes from a previous class.
- Complete all assigned readings before class.
- Bring note taking materials to class.
2. Taking Notes (During Class):
- Keep attention focused on what teacher says.
- Write quickly as to get all notes. Use shorthand when necessary.
- Place a "?" next to notes you don't really understand.
3. Review Your Notes (After Class):
- Rewrite notes in longhand writing making sure to complete abbreviated words and changing symbols to words.
- Make notes more accurate by answering questions you had while taking notes.
- Check with peers to find any missed information.
I don't really see a problem in my taking of notes. I only have a problem with the two habits i chose earlier.
Task Two (b):
- What is Procrastination?
- Procrastination is avoiding or putting off something that must be done.
2. Why do students procrastinate?
- Perfectionism- students standards may be too high compared to teacher's standards.
- Fear of Failure- students may lack confidence in what they do.
- Confusion- students may not know how to start or how to complete a task.
- Task Difficulty- students may lack ability to do the required task.
- Poor Motivation- students may have little or no interest in the task at hand.
- Difficulty Concentrating- student may be easily distracted by surroundings.
- Unpleasantness- student may not like to do what the task requires.
- Lack of Priorities- student may not know what tasks are more important than others.
3. How Do I Know if I Procrastinate Excessively or Not?
You know you procrastinate excessively if you often put off tasks because of difficulty, priority issues, lack of interest, or any of the other above mentioned reasons.
4. How Can I Prevent or Stop Procrastination?
You can stop procrastination by motivating yourself to start a task and dedicate yourself once it is started. Also, find things that help you not to get too bored with a task so you don't put it off.
I am willing to fix my priorities, the fact of unpleasantness in a task, to have less perfectionist habits, less fear of failure, and better motivational habits.
Task Three:
So far at my internship over at COmmon Grounds under the FreeIT Athens group, i have learned quite a bit about being on time and not procrastinating. I also have learned to bring teh materials i need with me when i go. Overall, this internship has improved me all around.
